We have analysed every All Blacks Rugby World Cup campaign from 1987-2015 to select four players in each
position, now it is up to the fans to select the final team.

Who will you select as your first lock? The
finalists are:

Gary Whetton (1987, 1991)
An iconic figure of All Blacks rugby in the late 1980s, Gary Whetton played a key role in the All Blacks victorious
1987 campaign. Whetton returned to skipper the team and play every game in the 1991 tournament. The All Blacks
finished the tournament in third-place with the semifinal loss to Australia the only blemish. The bronze medal
victory over Scotland in 1991 also brought the curtain down on Whetton’s decade-long career in the All
Blacks. 
Sam Whitelock (2011, 2015)
A number of players won back-to-back World Cup titles in 2011 and 2015 with the All Blacks, but not many played in
every single game like Sam Whitelock. The 2.02m lock was such a vital member of the All Blacks squad that he started
in 13 of the All Blacks 14 Tests in both tournaments, with the other appearance coming from the bench. 
Ian Jones (1991, 1995, 1991)
Ian Jones was such a domineering figure for the All Blacks throughout the 1990s that he appeared at all three of
the World Cups in the decade. After partnering captain Gary Whetton in 1991, Ian Jones returned as the All Blacks
senior lock in 1995 and 1999. Jones formed a formidable second-row partnership with Robin Brooke at the 1995
tournament and was unlucky not to win a World Cup title during his distinguished career. 
Ali Williams (2003, 2007, 2011)
After appearing for the All Blacks at the ill-fated 2003 and 2007 tournaments, it seemed that a World Cup title
would elude Ali Williams as he missed the entirety of 2010 through injury. Williams returned from injury in 2011 and
fought his way back into the All Blacks squad for the first World Cup on home soil since 1987. Williams appeared in
all seven of the All Blacks games at the tournament and will be remembered for his passionate haka performance in
the final.
